I'm taking a family history class this semester and one of our assignments is a service-learning project related to family history. Creating a website was one of the options and my teacher encouraged us to use blogspot if that's what we chose. I think I could have gone a really long time without creating a blog, but for some reason the prospect of creating one for a school assignment was appealing to me. Possibly because of the convenience since I spend plenty of time on the computer anyway. Any way you look at it though, I figured it's a great way to keep family and friends updated with what's going on in our lives, plus it can be our family's history. :) It will be wonderful to have later since neither of us are good journal writers.
This class has me very excited about doing my family history! I figured it would be mostly about our ancestors, but it is also about recording our own family history. I've even started my Book of Remembrance which isn't due until December just because I thought it would be fun! (Amazing considering I think we all know how I like to procrastinate.) This week in lab we'll be learning to search for our ancestors and I'm truly looking forward to it. We've already learned to input information into PAF and FamilySearch. I hope I'll find some ancestors and be able to do their temple work this semester! That would be such a neat experience.
I hope you all enjoy this blogging experience and our lives with us!
